Statement Pieces

Statement pieces are my favourite way to elevate a casual outfit or one that follows the same colour palette. A statement piece can be just about anything you want it to be as long as it adds depth to your outfit and draws peoples attention. My go to statement pieces are jewelry, a belt and a fun pair of shoes but I often like to experiment with other pieces as well. As a stylist I do think that building a capsule wardrobe is the best way to maximize your closet, and while doing that picking out statement pieces that can be worn with many different types of outfits can be very valuable. One of my very first posts on SEZZE was a pair of point toed slingback heels with a flower detail on the top and I captioned it “The most iconic pair of heels.” These heels are the perfect statement piece because they provide an edge to whatever outfit you pair them with. Since buying them (for a wonderful price of $45 may I add) I’ve worn them to a wedding, a tennis match and a girls night dinner. Versatile and elevated are two very important words to keep in mind when shopping for statement pieces.

This is your sign to put as much energy into accessories as you do into your actual outfit. Accessories are such an easy way to elevate any type of outfit and they can be utilized in so many different ways. A pair of chunky gold hoops and some black lens sunglasses can make you look like you just divorced your husband and took all his money even if all you did was go to grocery store.

Statement pieces are also a great way to portray your vibe. A bright coloured puffer jacket can give off a fun, creative kind of energy, while a pair of red kitten heels can give off an elegant, mature vibe. The best part about statement pieces are that you can implement them into your style based on how you feel that day. You don’t have to pick a vibe and stick to it, vibes change just as quick as life changes, and that’s why its fun to play around with these different pieces.
